Polymer festival psy rave and dance act

I heard it was a crazy set with a dead guy by the stage

This week I went back to the Polymer festival to see Henri Hütt's dance act. Henri is a good friend and a talented dancer and we did a project together back in 2010. During the evening there was a psy trance night Manatarq there.

The dance performance was very visual. It had Daft Punkish helmets, remote control cars, a gun and bear traps. It combined text, music and video with simple movements and continuous flow. All the people barely fitted into the black box to see all of this. There was another play on Sunday, but that was it. I recommend to see Henri's techno-minimalist dance performances if you have a chance.

The Polymer festival is an exciting event and I will analyze it's artsy side in another web publication, but the night I spent there was no less inspiring. I had just helped a friend move from his nouveau rich neighborhood to an established squat. We had wine, beer and meatballs and a slight urge to do something with our Friday night. So we went to Vabaduse väljak, skipped some bars and came across some giggling friends. They told us that there was a party in the house, but they couldn't get in the door. We managed to finally get in after calling about ten different people who might have been attending (none answered). But there was no party. Not a person came to the door and the windows were dark.

That's when we found out about the free psy trance rave at Polymer. We set course for that and got another two guys to join us on the way. I haven't been to that many psy trance events before. Maybe only the stage at Robotaanika Park a few years ago. One of the enthusiasts explained psy to us as: "diggidi diggidi diggidi viiiiiiiuuuuuuüüüüt." It was fun though. The scene is an interesting and a multicultural one. There were also different substances present in the blood flow of the goers.

We soon found Henri and the others from where the dance act had taken place and we joined them. People were having shots of tequila, mixing rum and playing with the remote cars from the play. We set up an obstacle course for the cars and raced against each other. Several uninvited guests wanted to join us. It might have been the tracks I was presenting to our little group.

There were crazy things happening all around the factory. Someone was carrying a passed out girl. Rascals had stolen two spray paints from Soho Fonds lounge and were writing smut on the walls. What happened in the neon lights of the dim main room you can only imagine, but there were people making out elsewhere.

A great end to my experience with the Polymer festival. It's a shame they didn't let me play, but hopefully it will change next year.

Patareiv - Prison rave.

Patareiv was one of the funnest parties in a while. Mixing good music, friends and tasty drinks produced special moments. 

Happy for her new "Blo me" shirt.

The party started at  6 but most of the people didn't show up before midnight. I was playing to a crowd by then. Four stages altogether and our stage was built on an ancient soviet truck. It was very suitable for heavy machinery bass. There were also stages for techno, house and psy trance/dubstep.

My set was heavy. I didn't play any old harder and faster tracks except for "Windshield pfeiffer" as the encore (even despite that one girl on the right shouting she didn't want to hear another one). I sang on the "Pick up track" and "Urge to follow". The rock soundguy provided me tips for the vocals. Some true fans were really rocking it to "I dig dirt" and other wild bass ones. There was also a guy shouting for something mellow and my dear kid sister. I changed from my Punisher shirt to my "Blo Me" shirt during playing. A girl dancing in the front row threw me candy, a carambar with a weird joke. I threw my shirt to her, as the crowd was shouting: "Give it to her! Give it to her!". Congrats to all the proud owners of a "Blo me" shirt. The shirts have now been sold out.

I loved the set by Anthelia. It was heavy and gabberish, but with housish chords like "Benny Rodrigues - Rotterdam". I also liked Rhythm Doctor, Talvik and Marek Poel. I send my regards to Redlip (Fluon crew) whose Traktor controller didn't work anymore when it was time to play. I hope it will resurrect. She was recording my live show so you might see my show even if you missed it at Patareiv.

We kept dancing until the dawn and were blessed with a fresh dance move - "shark jaws". I'm sure you can imagine how to move your hands to imitate a shark. It goes into the vault with such classic moves like Chernobyl child plays ping pong and "lost in the woods (bewildered eyes)".

Extreme prison planking.

The night ended with rescuing a stray guy from on top of a big pipe. At first it looked like extreme planking, but then he explained that he had wanted to stage a prison break. He got tangled in barbed wire and couldn't get down anymore. With our guidance, he climbed down in no time and left for home.The photo was awesome, but the guy contacted me and asked me to remove it. Now it's up to you to fill the gap with your granny or whoever you would like to see planking there.

We continued partying until 10 in the morning. We escorted Alver to get his photos developed and had a breakfast in old town. Then I went to get my well deserved two hour power nap. I hope your weekend was something as good (at Flow festival for example).

Delayed! Broken! Canceled!

Your computer output is broken, no soundcheck and your live is an hour later than planned. Does this sound like the start of the best party?

Well it was.

I used the Lexicon soundcard of the Krahl sound guy (thx). After Zebra and Snake I threw on the Tallinn Daggers remix and we went crazy. Even though the tempo and feel of my song was twice as ecstatic. You were crazy on the floor and I was crazy on the stage. For that half an hour we were unified in the beats. Dj Vattu came to give me a hand on knob twiddling and also a very refreshing zip of rum (various animals had drunk all the alcohol in the backstage).

Hundreds of people at the party. The stairs too crowded to go downstairs to smoke or to listen to the reggae party below. Lots of cool artists in the backstage and among them Mia the superstar organizer who only ate caffeine and peach cigarettes and didn't allow her best friends backstage not to mention the groupies or the spaced out dancer-promoter guy. She was strict and it was cool like that. The act that cancelled was Henry, a good friend of mine from the Dance marathon (the blog post for that), but luckily he got to play the outro for the party. His ambient sweeping the room as the Mc rhymed and beatboxed and I was embracing my fans while Emer the star Vj accused me of being a rockstar. Which as you know I am not, but to be sure come and see next time as I bang my cowbell, the sister of all instruments. More on that next time.

A special thanks to all the friends that were ravin away. We will go crazy again soon and people who missed Tallinn, we'll meet in Tartu on the 10th in Plink plonk.

The live is on the 20th November in Tallinn and where else than Von Krahl. Be prepared for another world as you enter. I will be up on that stage giving you the raw fun to dance to.

I will play after the foreign bands. First up are Zebra and Snake from Finland and the other band thinks that they are animals as well. Who are they?

Barthols music is raw. I love that when I listen to it then I don't care for a normal life anymore. I just want to put on tons of make-up and wear high heels. Really high ones and smoke in a dimmed out room and just enjoy being vain. His music has got a sharp dangerous edge to it but gets me out of the everyday routine.

But don't believe her before you've seen me play live in full gear. A good friend of mine will come all the way from Paris to party with us. You know it will be wild, when we do it Paris style.

If you somehow did miss it in Tallinn then don't give up hope and come to Tartu on the 10th of December. As the next party will be there.

The main news is that I finished and uploaded my remix. I remixed Heat by Mimicry.

Mimicry is a contestant in the Estonian Song 2010 for Eurovision. This is not the song in the final, but another one. As usually(for the second time) I just used the vocals sang by the beautiful Kene Vernik.

A new remix is on the way for a famous Estonian artist not yet to be revealed;)

Also I am doing a dance show with a very talented dancer on the 20th of march in Tallinn. At the Tantsumaraton "Made in Estonia" in Kanuti Gild.

Dancing in the Dark

I spent this weekend in Viljandi. I was there working on a dance project for this spring. I have a feeling that it's going to be good. I rather like experimenting with my body and movement. Maybe more on the dance act as it develops.
After that we used some of the equipment to shoot some sequences that could be used in a possible future video.

The other reason was to establish contacts with a local club to see if it was possible to play there.

In other news there are two new videos of my Lives. Rather short ones but nonetheless here they are. My next live will be this Saturday in Genklubi and I will probably have a surprise dancer on the stage. But it's a secret ;) Also I finished the design for my shirt, with some help from a couple of designers. If everything goes well, I will wear it this Saturday and soon fans can get it as well. Yes, both of them ;)

Lego animation continues

Tonight I had some friends over to help me make the tiny legomen dance in the lego club.
It's quite an effort to move each and every1 of the 60 figures. I am very thankful fot the extra help from my friends. The video is about a blonde who brings the party with her, the cops stop chasing escaped prisoners, businessmen turn rave and princes arrive on white horses, while the Dj cooks some nice earcandy. We will be done shooting in september and then we'll begin editing. So the video should be out in october probably.
