Welcome back to Fluon,

It has been a while, as I have been occupied with other endeavors. Truth be told regular Fluon is OVER soon. If this is your first time here then you can read about why I made fluon in this post. There will be another post about why I am not continuing with regular Fluon anymore, at some point. It has been a fun SIX years. I will continue to include SPECIAL POSTs about the best events I have been to.

Tartu is a blooming scene at the moment and it got me taking photos again. I want to share them with all of you. Enjoy and I'll see you out there. Oh and leave a like!

Tallinn Fashion Week 404...

Don't make a disc, print t-shirts or something instead

This weekend was about three events. The Tallinn Fashion Week, Apartment 404 and the ending of Artishok Bienalle at EKKM. I wandered into all of them half accidentally. Read on and also make sure to come to Genklubi this Friday to see my DJ set.

If your friend doesn't want to dance then just rub your crotch to his head.

It all started on Friday when I was dragged to EKKM for the Artishok Biennale end party. I didn't mind because Kiwanoid was playing his robotic live there and it had been a while since I had been to one of it's nights. If you've never been, but want to get a feel or just to remind yourself, then here's a short clip about it.


I was just kicking it on Saturday, until another friend who is leaving Estonia gave me a call. I can't even count all the people we've sent abroad since summer there have been around twenty of them. He invited me over to Telliskivi to go to an underground party, which later turned out to be tech house.

But as I got over there I ended up in the middle of Tallinn Fashion Week. People were out between the shows of Liisi Eesmaa and Aldo Järvsoo. There was nothing else to do than to somehow get into the show without paying 8€ for it. In the end we concluded that probably no one had paid the ticket.

I started going through the ten ways to get into a party and thought of using the method number one to get in. I was calling a friend to ask if she had a spare +1 while standing in front of the door. A lady turned to me and told me she had a +1 and I could get in with her. I didn't think twice and took the opportunity.

It was crowded inside and I couldn't see too much of the show, but I saw enough. It was a parade of grays, whites with patterns and an occasional black passed by. It was the show by Aldo Järvsoo. The part that most impressed the crowd, was when the last models skirt had such a steep cut that her ass was showing. People were clapping and whistling for her.

Next stop was Apartment 404. It was the birthday party for Okeiko, who is a local designer and illustrator. The whole party was broadcasted live to the internet. The line-up included Hendrik Kaljujärv, whose lives are pure magic, a project by Taavi Tulev (I didn't catch the name) and possibly a Krishna Dj who ended the event. At some point we blocked two cameras with signs that sent greetings to our friend Henry who was watching from France.

Is there a better way  to end the night than lying on the carpet listening to a Krishna Dj play Prodigy.

The event had a special aura to it that I haven't encountered in last years. As it turns out there were 1000 people watching the night altogether and at peak time there were 100 simultaneous watchers.

This is how we ended our night at 3:30 on Friday night.

Welcome back!
We organized a local Soundcloud meetup in Tartu. Out of 30 invited musicians, producers and DJs 6 were interested in meeting and discussing.

Mimicry

I gave a short presentation about the basic notions of band branding. Kaarel talked about organizing events and his experiences and basis for choosing acts. The talks continued in Nälg for hours and ended with us fleeing to nearby ruins when a thunderstorm started.

We're going to have another meeting this wednesday so if you know any musicians in Tartu, send them our way. We also welcome DJs and managers. Our goal is to get the scene moving and inspire people to be more active. It's a great boost to meet other musicians, producers and whonot and to share insights.

Time to smoke.

The third "Danger! Danger!" in Nälg, together with Kiwanoid. We decorated the room with "Falck Security" tape to let people know about the danger. We had a red beacon light which we couldn't get to work sadly. The theme was "crime scene", but despite our loud efforts the police didn't show up.

I was happy to see so many old goers and new faces in Nälg. The night almost ended in a fight between a local theater director and a nondescript chav. Luckily the barmaid calmed them down. Also I was approached by a young lad. He said he had been sent by 7 people who wanted me to play track 4 on this Christmas CD. I didn't panic, the older DJs had taught me what to do. I calmly told him that requests are 50€. He didn't pay, so no deal. There will be a fourth "Danger! Danger!", but I haven't decided if in June or September. Photos of the party by Keiu Maasik.

I'm playing at the afterparty for Erki Moeshow on Saturday, so if you want fashion and a party, come on over. It's a party through three floors. Each banging to it's own tune. Kazk, Marek Poel and Huggo are playing as well. All the girls attending will be either looking good or well dressed, so you know you can't go wrong.

Fluon at Eclectica #2 Bassy Byetone

"This is the best party I've been to!"

Yesterdays Matemaatika was yet another Eclectica style epic party. The best part was Byetone. Here's a video of him playing at the OFFF festival>



Kaido and Eva were first with their with their punk electronics set. It was enjoyable except for the fact that Eva was somewhere in the dark. We only heard her, but she's a girl worth seeing as well. Lithuanian Metroscan had an interesting show, but it was almost unbearable. There were difficulties with the sound system so the harsh sound hurt peoples ears. Luckily I had an earplug. Their visuals were great thou.

The star of the night was BYETONE. I hadn't heard his music before, but it didn't matter. His beats were hard and the visuals were hypnotic. Everyone on the dancefloor was dancing. Byetone started with "Plastic star", numbers ticking behind him. The people dived into the heavy music music head on and everyone in the venue was dancing instead of the usual first five rows. The bass kept sweeping the dance floor and people threw their fists in the air. The last track was a special killer and it was sad to see him go so we got him back on the stage. He confessed that he doesn't have an encore so we got everyone chanting: "Same set! Same set!" until he played "Plastic star" one more time. People went wild, Kiwa Noid and Renca climbed on the speakers and had a synced dance which ended topless. There are photos of that on xx blog.

The party ended at 4 am. We continued the night at Karl T's house. It's his birthday, so happy birthnight from Fluon. The after party had 40 people in a small apartment and the speakers on max. The big finalle was the police arriving at 6 am because of all the fun we were having. We unsuccessfully tried to throw them out, because no one invited them to the party. No one got taken away and Karl T didn't get a fine. The after party continued on the streets and around town.

Get ready for another wild night, listen to party music from the player up there> and put your dancing shoes on for Vakula - the Ukrainian house master who will be playing tonight in Genklubi at Eclectica.
